About Refills and Tissue Augmentation

The main goals for these treatments are to reduce and eventually remove deep furrow and wrinkles that are produced by mimics or skin aging, in cases were they cannot be treated with Botox (botulinum toxin), or as a complement to it.

Refills can also correct deep acne scars.

Some cases nonsurgical depressions on the sides or wings of the nose, sunked lips, retracted cheeks, sunken chin or back-positioned can be successfully treated with refill materials through the application of injections in the proper places, without the need for major surgery.

Refill Materials

The most used materials for refills are:

• Hyaluronic acid synthetic Gel: Long-lasting, biocompatible, non-allergenic
• Carboximetilcelulose gel: Biocompatible, semi-permanent (3+ years), non-allergenic
• Hydroxyapatite gel: Biocompatible, semi-permanente (5+ years), non-allergenic
• Methacrylate gel: Biocompatible, semi-permanent (5+ years), non-allergenic
• Medical Silicon gel: Biocompatible, non-degradable, lightly allergenic, permanent
  

All of these are products with proven efficacy that are approved by the FDA (USA) y la ANMAT (Argentina). They are selected by a qualified physician and the patient during the initial assessment, depending on each particular case and the cost/benefit ratio.
