Light and Medium Peel PDF Print E-mail

About Peeling

Peeling is a dermatological treatment that applies a chemical compound that generates a lmited and controlled destruction of your skin.

This action is then followed with a correct reconstruction of your dermis and epidermis giving place to a new skin, thicker and rich in fibroblasts, with more and better oriented fibers.

With this treatment, you obtain a skin that is

  • more consistent
  • better toned
  • smoother, with evident reduction of wrinkles depth and less fibrous scars

Who can benefit from Peeling treatments

Peelings are indicated when skin ageing is low to moderated and the patient does not wich to go through more aggressive procedures, as well as cases where scar are minimal.

Light Peels

The Light Peeling procedure is performed at the health professional's office and uses more concentrated compounds than over-the-counter cosmetic products. The concentration is defined by the health professional based on his experience and the depth of the defects to treat.

The treatment generates a light redness on theskin for a couple of days. During the first two weeks, the skin may break out until it is renewed at the end of recovery. Additional reactions can be similar to sunburn. New skin is generated, smoother youthfu and with less blemishes.

The most used chemical agents are Alpha Hidroxy Acids, Glycolic Acids, Retinoic Acid, Resorcine and Salicylic Acid.

A light peel might be repeated once a week during 8 to 12 months.

Medium Peel

Medium Peel is performed at a physician's office exclusively. There are several products for performing it, being the most used trichloroacetic acid, in solution, gel or mask form.

Medium peel is suitable for light acne scars, facial aging and for skin blemishes in face and hands.

This treatment requires the application of a anesthetic cream or gel.

Both types of peel reduce and atenuate the superficial wrinkles and furrows, as these procedures favour the generation of more elastic fibers and new colagen at the dermis.
